It has an advantage that few beaches can boast: it’s right in the town centre. Fine sand, calm waters, lifeguards on duty in summer. You can walk to La Concurrence beach from the hotel – no car, no hassle. You lay out your towel and you’re already on holiday. The sort of place that makes you want to linger until sunset and watch the boats come into harbour.

Watch your feet when the tide goes out – the shellfish that didn’t make it onto your plate are out for revenge!
For lovers of the open sea and waves. Gros Jonc beach, on the Île de Ré, is one of the wildest and most beautiful on the island. Facing the Atlantic, popular with surfers, and bordered by dunes and pine trees. The more active among us cycle there via Saint-Martin de Ré and spend the whole day there. A break that’s well worth the detour. Crossing the bridge feels just like setting off on a holiday to the islands!
Île de Ré – 45 mins via the bridge, by car or by bike
Intimate, unspoilt, accessible only by boat, not by car. Baby Plage on the Île d’Aix is the sort of place you never forget. Cars are banned across the whole island. Here, time really does slow down. Whilst we’re at it, we’ll also enjoy a stroll past Fort Boyard before stopping off for the whole day. There’s everything you need on site: a bar, a restaurant and a bakery for a picnic. You can walk all the way round the island (just 7 km) in under two hours before going for a swim, And the best bit of it all?
